If your eyelashes are thinner, shorter, or sparser than you’d like, it could be due to the effects of aging or genetics. It’s also possible that your lashes have been damaged because you’ve been scrubbing them too forcefully. If you don’t like this look, don’t worry. Cosmetic treatments are a great option for getting lashes that frame your eyes to make them bigger and brighter. Many people feel that long lashes look attractive on both men and women, regardless of natural eye color or shape. LATISSE® from our Mt. Vernon-based practice is a prescription treatment that can give you the lavish, luscious lashes you’ve always wanted. If eyeliner, mascara, extensions, and false eyelashes aren’t cutting it anymore or you want a more believable, volumized look, you might prefer to try a growth serum. With that in mind, consider LATISSE®, which helps you to grow your natural eyelashes.

Candidates

There are several characteristics that indicate you may be a suitable candidate for LATISSE®. If you want to make your lashes more dramatic and glamorous, it’s always best to consult at a dermatologist-led practice for a proper assessment.

The growth serum works well on both men and women. Also, people of every eye color can try LATISSE®. But for those with light brown, blue, green, grey, or hazel eyes, there is a very minor risk of it permanently changing the eye color by causing increased brown pigmentation (hyperpigmentation) on the iris. Note, however, that this has only occurred in very rare cases. More importantly, this usually doesn’t happen if the treatment is applied properly.

It’s safe to use LATISSE® if your eyes are healthy. However, it may not be suitable for those who have eye problems such as infections like conjunctivitis, glaucoma, or inflammation, or severe upper eyelid infections or allergies. It isn’t intended for patients who are pregnant or breastfeeding. Some patients also experience some irritation, redness, and dryness after using LATISSE®, which shouldn’t be applied on the lower eyelid area. You may have to try a different alternative to improve the lower eyelashes.
