What is CoolSculpting®?

CoolSculpting® is a sweat-free way to rid the body of annoying bulges and stubborn fat. This non-surgical technology targets and freezes unwanted fat cells in selected areas to create a noticeable, natural-looking reduction in fat accumulation. Unlike most of the other methods of fat reduction, CoolSculpting® involves no needles, no surgery, and no downtime. Our Cosmetic Dermatology patients often spend their time during the procedure reading, working or simply relaxing. It’s safe, FDA-cleared, and effective. Results look natural and can be noticeable as early as three weeks following treatment, but one to three months after treatment often produce the most dramatic results of fat loss.

If you’ve been struggling to rid your body of specific fat areas, this treatment may work well for you. Targeting fat bulges with exercise can be very difficult, especially if you don’t have time to go to the gym. This procedure is fast, painless, and can yield the results you’ve been trying to achieve. If you’re interested in learning more about how CoolSculpting might work for your body, schedule a visit at our Mt. Vernon, IL office.

What Happens during CoolSculpting® Treatment?

CoolSculpting® technology safely delivers precisely controlled cooling to gently and effectively target the fat cells underneath the skin. The treated fat cells are crystallized (frozen). In the days and weeks following the procedure, these cells die, and the body will flush the dead cells. Your new figure will be revealed in the weeks directly following a treatment.

What Areas can be Treated?

While this procedure is safe to use on most parts of the body, some treatment areas are more common than others. Most of our Mt. Vernon office patients ask for these specific areas:

  • Belly Fat
  • Waist or “Love Handles,” “Muffin Tops”
  • Back fat
  • Outer thigh fat
  • Hip fat or “Saddle Bags”
  • Upper-arm Fat
  • Double Chin

What Happens after Treatment?

Right after CoolSculpting®, the treated areas may temporarily be red, swollen, lightly bruised, tingling, stinging, numb, or mildly painful. These effects occur naturally after the skin is exposed to suction and/or cool temperatures. Minor side effects can last from 30 minutes to a couple hours and will reside naturally. Most of our patients return to work or their normal activities immediately following the treatment.
